Based in Thornbury, Bristol, Gems Jewellers specialise in jewellery and watch repairs, engraviing, valuations and sales. We are also experts in crafting quality hand-made jewellery, including wedding rings.

We offer customers a bespoke jewellery design service, where we can melt down your old gold and make it into a new unique individual piece. All hand-made jewellery is made within our fully equipped workshop in Thornbury.

Our off-the-shelf product range includes rings, necklaces and earrings.

Gems was originally a workshop established in Bristol in June 1976, offering a jewellery repair and manufacturing service to trade customers. The founder, after attending Art College, trained in a Debeers Designer workshop in St Albans then worked in Nottingham, Bideford Devon, and finally Bristol.

The business grew and after a few years the workshop had over 30 trade accounts with prestigious clients including the Goldsmith Group and H Samuels . In the mid 80‘s many of the large multiples decided to centralise and set up their own workshops in the Birmingham area forcing many small workshops including Gems to find alternative work.

Therefore, Gems decided to go retail and opened our doors to the public in the late 80’s with our first shop. We now trade from our premises in Thornbury, which opened in 1992 and is run as a partnership.

With over 40 years experience in the jewellery trade we can offer a wide range of expertise in all aspects of jewellery repairs, watch repairs and sales. We will buy gold at a fair price.
